| A Milliner's Tale Images of Beauty and Integrity This book was born of my desire to document my work and to extend my creative abilities beyond pattern design and textile work into photography and the written word. My modus operandi has been to design, to document, and to share the journey I have made, offering visual inspiration to spark the creativity of those who read this book, and honouring those involved in making and modelling MGmillinery designs. The Art of It My millinery skills have come about by a trial and error method over the past 10 years. My interest was initially captured in an introductory class for stitched hats at a technical college in Western Australia. At the time I was quite ill with depression and its related symptoms; however, with the sincere encouragement from an occupational therapist and motivated to assist my own therapeutic process, I began slowly to build confidence in my ability as a creative being. Thus began the serious pursuit of this creative endeavor. It was also then that I began to write daily for a similar purpose. I do not have traditional millinery skills and have instead taken one small component of hat-making, pattern design and stitched construction work, and developed the craft way beyond the classroom floor into my own innovative niche of work. My craft and the art of it, develops and unfolds before me. With color and texture as my playmates, with shape and the embellishing process a tool, of language. I am grateful for 'the knowing' of it. The images speak for the rest. If you would like to order the book, please contact me. $39.60USD
