VISION
To transform sweatshop mindsets by reinvigorating the manufacturing environment one
workshop at a time.
AIM
To empower disadvantaged women in developing countries by establishing
sustainable,non-exploitive manufacturing workshops then providing ethical Australian
fashion designers access to them.
OBJECTIVES
1. To set up ETHICAL WORKSHOPS with disadvantaged women in developing countries which create long term employment opportunities that are non exploitive and life affirming. There are two phases to this objective: see end of document
2. To use appropriate or INTERMEDIATE TECHNOLOGY wherever possible so that these workshops will be low capital micro venture business opportunities for these same people in due time. In keeping with this philosophy we will also keep the workshop sizes restricted to a ‘human centred’ size.
3. To promote, market and retail the projects’ accessory and craft lines guided by our VISION STATEMENT and ETHICAL WORKPLACE documents bringing integrity of product into each phase of the product’s life and process. And to provide ongoing funds to power the organizations aims from the sale of these items
4. To support and EMPOWER SMALL LOCAL PRODUCERS in developing countries via micro loans, business and export support, time management and quality control training whilst establishing positive trade links for their goods with retailers in Australia and the US and by providing a link with designers in Australia looking for small scale production.
5. To SUPPORT existing WOMEN'S HANDCRAFT co-operatives and enterprise in the developing world and search for markets for their goods.
6. To facilitate STRATEGIC ALLIANCES between small business craftswomen and apparel designers in Australia with artisans and makers in developing countries to set up well run ethical workplaces that sustain an equitable living for both parties and to assist current relationships that fit the criteria.
PHASE 1 – an explanation
The centre of production for the 1st few years will be the setup of Lionheart’s own workshops to produce its various Accessory & Apparel label products. The sale of these items will inturn provide an ongoing funding source for PHASE 2 as well as create an income and secure employment for TIBETAN refugee workers.
PHASE 2 – an explanation
To facilitate and assist small business Australian craftswoman and designers to set up ethically modelled workshops with artisans and makers in developing countries. To provide them with the assistance and expertise as well as the matching services to locate these ‘makers’ whilst assisting our ‘sister’ country workers in a more comprehensive manner, so as to meet their own needs first and then to meet the requirements of those small business designers from Australia purchasing their workshop skills.
