The Photographs

Miranda Green Millinery Australia

In 1997 I was looking for someone to photograph my first range of hats.  I was given Chris French's name as someone who might be interested in helping out.

Chris is a keen craftswoman and a beautiful individual.  Apart from being incredibly skilled behind the camera, Chris has also studied Rudolph Steiner's anthroposophy.  From day one, with characteristic generosity, she gently insisted that I come behind the camera and assist her in the process, checking each shot and reframing it if necessary, before we moved forward to hopefully capture the desired image - the one that, Chris knew, dwelled in my mind's eye.

Over seven years and 15 further photo shoots, our collaboration evolved so far that I found myself clicking that little button and monopolizing the viewfinder with Chris graciously consulting from the sideline.  Though my skills remain limited to the mostly artistic aspects of photography, Chris has supplied unending patience and the much needed light relief to my intense and focused photo shoot demeanor.  We have become the 'Dream Team' of photo shoots.

Our team includes the gorgeous women who allow us to photograph them, the very warm and skillful make-up artist Gail Wilton and the reflector girl, whoever she might be.  So it has come to pass, that with digital camera in hand and Chris acting as consultant on all matters 'image related', I am able to go it alone.  The journey continues ...
